Abstract

This study employs a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The findings reveal that inpatient nurses allocate 52.31% of their time to direct care activities, 39.01% to indirect activities, and 8.67% to personal activities. Using the Workload Indicator of Staffing Need (WISN) method, the nurse workload level was found to be approximately 91.33%, which exceeds the maximum productive working time limit of 80%. The total required number of nurses based on the WISN calculation is 25.75%, with a WISN ratio of 0.31. This indicates that the current number of nurses is significantly lower than what is needed to achieve an ideal workload distribution.
