Abstrak

The aim of this research was to examine the effet of level of integration in innovation process and R&D intensity to the number of new products developed and marketed. Level of integration in innovation process was measured by function integration, tool integration, and external integration, where as the ratio of R&D spending/sales was used as the measure the R&D intensity.

Respondents of this research were operational and marketing managers. This study was a census since the entire population was studied.

The data analysis method used in this study was multiple regression. The result confirmed all the hypotheses. The outcome provided an explanation that functional integration, tools integration, external integration, and R&D intensity have a tinier linkage with new product development. Integration was found to be the dominant predictor. Although there was a strong linkage between the independent variables and the dependent variable, it was possible that other variables influencing new product developments which were not included in this research. The lack of spending in R&D subjects the ability of pharmacy industries in Indonesia to produce quality drugs.
